Thanks to existing savings, guaranteed loans, and generous early commitments from members, the renovations on sanctuary and rectory roofs are completed and renovation have already begun in the Bleu Room, sanctuary, convent, and rectory. Reimbursement grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for physical security enhancements, replacement of windows, and doors can begin immediately. We have cost estimates from Harvey Construction, and they have agreed to renovate in phases.

WHY ARE WE COMBINING OUR ANNUAL SPECIAL MISSIONS WITH FUNDING TO RENOVATE THE CHURCH? WILL THIS IMPACT HOW MUCH WE GIVE TO SPECIAL MISSIONS?

Our call to “go and make disciples of all nations” remains at the heart of who we are. Special Missions is not decreasing, being replaced, or becoming less important. In fact, our commitment to world missions remains strong—and the Greater Impact Campaign is designed to strengthen that commitment, not compete with it.

For years, our church has faithfully given to two major areas of need:

1. Regular weekly giving, which sustains our daily ministry

2. Special Missions, which supports global evangelism

Now, God is presenting us with an opportunity to do something we have not done before: renew and rebuild our church home so it can better serve our members, our children, our neighbors, and our global partners for generations to come. We are not choosing between missions and renovations. We are choosing to honor both - because both matter deeply to the future of our church.

The Greater Impact Campaign simply allows us to bring these needs into one unified vision:

Our building renovations will help us host more community programs, better support our youth and families, expand our local outreach, and create a space that welcomes new believers. A stronger church at home leads to a stronger partnership with our churches around the world.

We know this is sacrificial. We know it requires faith. But God has always moved powerfully when His people step forward with courage, unity, and generosity.

We anticipate that maintenance costs will stay the same or fall, as more energy-efficient buildings reduce utility bills. Our operating budget is in a healthy place, so we do not expect this project to place undue strain on GBC finances.

The intent of the Board and church leadership is to ensure we remain fiscally responsible with the funds God has given us. We will prioritize critical renovation projects to ensure safety and functionality. If we are unable to raise the funds needed, the Board will inform the congregation and determine how to remain fiscally responsible.
